Earthwork Foreman – Little Rock, Arkansas

The Earthwork Foreman manages daily site activities by ensuring the project is constructed in accordance with safety, design, budget, and schedule. The Earthwork Foreman directly manages the lead personnel and staff on each project site.

Responsibilities

  • Weekly communication with General Superintendents regarding job specific needs including workforce and equipment requirements. Create 2 week Look Ahead Schedules
  • Daily contact with job site crews to ensure project time schedule and workforce needs are being met.
  • Schedules subcontractors to complete work as needed. Monitors subcontractor work to ensure work is complete per subcontractor agreement. Interact with Owner Representatives in regards to project requirements and quantity tracking for payment.
  • Maintains safe working environment by identifying workplace hazards and taking corrective action when necessary,
  • Ensures employees have up-to-date information on safety procedures and policies.
  • Conducts daily Job Hazard Awareness meetings, daily stretching, and weekly Tool Box topics.
  • Complete daily record keeping including daily logs, equipment schedules, material schedules, and time cards.
  • Manages field personnel in fair and equitable manner in accordance with Phillips Hardy policies, procedures, as well as compliance with local and federal laws.
  • Addresses staff performance issues as they occur.
  • Prepares and participates in regular job site meetings throughout the project life cycle.
  • Provides timely and accurate documentation for reporting safety issues, equipment damage and workplace injuries, according to Phillips Hardy policies and procedures.
  • Ensures all work follows specified quality standards. Inspects field work for quality compliance, materials for quality compliance and review assembly of manufacturer’s literature and drawings before work begins.
  • Regular participation in training for construction methods and safety. Supports training opportunities for staff.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of any known direction, written or verbal, which may affect the ability to successfully perform assignments or adversely affect company operations.
  • Other projects or duties as assigned by management.

 

Qualifications

  • Two to five years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • OSHA 10 hour (preferred but not required), OSHA 30-hour, HAZWOPER certificate, Excavating Safety Training, Blueprint Training, CPR, First Aid.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret policies, reports, construction plans, construction specifications, and legal documents.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, iPad and iPhone.
  • Ability to communicate and schedule project needs appropriately.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both oral and written with employees, clients, and other business associates. Must clearly communicate directions and information. Must possess the ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Must have good interpersonal skill and be able to speak effectively before groups as well as individuals.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages ratios, and proportions to practical field quantity situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must possess the ability to satisfactorily perform each essential duty and responsibility.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
  • Must possess valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.
  • Position requires 8 to 10-hour workdays and occasional weekends, as needed.

Project Engineer – Missouri

Phillips Hardy Inc. is seeking a professional in the Heavy Highway industry to fulfill the responsibilities of Project Engineer in Columbia Missouri. The Project Engineer (PE) will be expected to obtain an in-depth knowledge of the plans, specifications, site conditions and requirements for the work which is assigned to the individual. The PE will report to/work closely with Project Managers & Estimators and will have responsibility for scheduling, planning, forecasting, resourcing and managing all the technical activities aiming at assuring project accuracy and quality from conception to completion. The PE will utilize technology to track costs, budgets, quantities, CO’s, RFI’s, and scheduling. The PE position has the potential for advancement within the company

 

Qualifications

  • Previous experience and/or knowledge of heavy highway industry
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal/communication and organizational/coordination skills
  • Computer Skills must include: Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/Access), P6 Scheduling and/or willingness to learn, and AgTek

Project Manager – Missouri

Phillips Hardy Inc. is seeking a seasoned professional in the Heavy Highway industry to fulfill the responsibilities of Project Manager at our Columbia, Missouri office.  The responsibilities of the project manager will be to oversee the work of the construction team or teams responsible for various scopes of work. The PM is responsible for ensuring conformance of the work with project plans and specifications.  The ideal candidate should be very diverse in their field experience and will have a general understanding for managing scopes of work such as: grading, drainage, utilities, concrete paving, highway and bridge construction.  Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to: oversight and management of field operations, scheduling of all site resources, work quality/quality control, subcontractor/supplier coordination, and all aspects of project site safety.

 

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the heavy highway construction industry is a must.
  • The successful candidate will show an ability to manage multiple tasks, and possess strong interpersonal/communication skills.
  • Familiarity working with City, State and Federal government agencies (Departments of Transportation and/or U.S. Army Corps of Engineers) is desirable.

General Structures Superintendent

Phillips Hardy Inc. is seeking a seasoned  professional in the heavy highway industry to perform the role of General Structures Superintendent.  The position is responsible for providing on-site coordination for all phases of construction projects, including coordinating subcontractors, material and equipment, ensuring that specifications are being strictly followed, and work is proceeding on schedule and within budget.

  • Confers with supervisory and engineering personnel and inspectors and suppliers of tools and materials to resolve construction problems and improve construction methods.

  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret contract documents including drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and the project schedule
  • Strong written, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Experience with Pile Driving, Concrete Forming, Steel or Beam Erection, Temporary and Permanent Shoring, Drilled-shaft Foundations, Bridge Deck Forming and Concrete Placement

Concrete Paving Foreman – Traveling

Phillips Hardy Inc. is seeking an experienced concrete paving foreman to work on heavy highway construction projects. This position will be responsible for managing slipform and fixed form paving operations, and constructing finished pavements meeting stringent U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and state Departments of Transportation specifications. Please note, this position will be a traveling position, covering job sites across the state of Missouri.

 

Skills and Experience

    • Inspect condition of grade, forms, and steel placement for compliance with specifications prior to concrete placements.

    • Perform or assist with set up of slipform paving equipment
    • Coordinate slipform paving operations
    • Coordinate and implement fixed form paving operations
    • Monitor all placement, finishing, and curing operations for specification compliance
    • Direct and communicate with crew members and project managers to ensure high quality pavements
    • Perform and report time and cost coding for all supervised/managed employees
    • Minimum five (5) years’ experience performing job duties required of position
    • Must be self-motivated, detail oriented, and able to perform effectively in a fast paced environment
    • Able to work at remote locations
