Heavy Equipment Mechanic – Arkansas

Phillips Hardy Inc. is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic. This position is to be filled immediately and will be based out of Central Arkansas, responsible for the repair and maintenance needs of our fleet in Arkansas. Good communication skills and self management are a must. This mechanic will be dispatched from the Boonville, MO office.

Qualifications

  • 3 + years working with heavy equipment
  • Knowledge of mechanical failure diagnostics
  • Basic computer skills
  • Occasional Saturdays
  • Overnight Travel is Common, Must be flexible to this demand
  • Must have your own tools
  • Must have at least Class B CDL
  • Experience with CAT ET & SIS is a plus
  • Experience with welding and fabrication is a plus

Field/Project Engineer – Missouri

The Field Engineer position will assist with on-site coordination for all phases of construction projects, including coordinating subcontractors, material and equipment, ensuring that specifications are being strictly followed, and work is proceeding on schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Perform line and grade work for building layout and control as required.
  • Assist in the implementation of the site safety program as required and ensure subcontractor compliance with safety standards and all applicable safety codes and regulations.
  • Assist in the maintenance of contract documents and electronic web-based documents for field operations.
  • Review contract drawings, specifications and shop drawings to ensure proper coordination and installation.
  • Assist in the preparation of project as-builts
  • Daily communication is required with site contractors, other technicians and project manager
  • Should have a sound understanding of construction practices
  • May perform other duties as necessary or assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience and/or knowledge of heavy highway industry
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal/communication and organizational/coordination skills
  • Computer Skills must include: Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/Access), P6 Scheduling and/or willingness to learn
  • Must be willing to travel on occasion
  • BS Degree in Construction Management or related field

Senior Project Manager – Missouri

Phillips Hardy Inc. is seeking a seasoned professional in the Heavy Highway industry to fulfill the responsibilities of Project Manager at our Columbia, Missouri office.  The responsibilities of the project manager will be to oversee the work of the construction team or teams responsible for various scopes of work. The PM is responsible for ensuring conformance of the work with project plans and specifications.  The ideal candidate should be very diverse in their field experience and will have a general understanding for managing scopes of work such as: grading, drainage, utilities, concrete paving, highway and bridge construction.  Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to: oversight and management of field operations, scheduling of all site resources, work quality/quality control, subcontractor/supplier coordination, and all aspects of project site safety.

 

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the heavy highway construction industry is a must.
  • The successful candidate will show an ability to manage multiple tasks, and possess strong interpersonal/communication skills.
  • Familiarity working with City, State and Federal government agencies (Departments of Transportation and/or U.S. Army Corps of Engineers) is desirable.
  • The candidate needs to be very organized and possession of strong computer skill are a must.  Electronic document management will be an everyday responsibility.

General Structures Superintendent – Missouri

Phillips Hardy Inc. is seeking a seasoned  professional in the heavy highway industry to perform the role of General Structures Superintendent.  The position is responsible for providing on-site coordination for all phases of construction projects, including coordinating subcontractors, material and equipment, ensuring that specifications are being strictly followed, and work is proceeding on schedule and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and supervise Carpenter Foremen, Pile Foremen and project operations as it relates to bridge and concrete structures.
  • Work with project manager to determine method and sequencing of construction. Plans, directs, coordinates and budgets activities.
  • Manage day to day activities and prepare daily electronic field logs.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with owner, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Communicate and promote safe working environment and company safety standards, with strong knowledge of OSHA regulations in regards to crane and bridge construction.
  • Must be able to read plans and have a strong knowledge of various DOT specifications and standards. Superintendent will inspect work in progress to ensure quality workmanship that conforms to contract specifications and standards. Working knowledge of MoDOT Quality Management Program a plus.
  • Confers with supervisory and engineering personnel and inspectors and suppliers of tools and materials to resolve construction problems and improve construction methods.
  • Responsible for compliance with all Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the development of lift plans, form systems, support of excavations systems, demolition plans
  • Schedule subcontractors in accordance to required work schedule, pump trucks and material deliveries, Inspect and verify the receipt or shipment of materials
  • Develop 2 Week Schedules to plan and coordinate labor, equipment, material, and needs
  • Interface with team members to communicate company issues, compliment exemplary work or effort and to address grievances as necessary.
  • Attend internal pre-construction meetings

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ related experience with civil highway bridge construction operations required
  • Proficient with Outlook, Excel and Word is a plus.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret contract documents including drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and the project schedule
  • Strong written, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Experience with Pile Driving, Concrete Forming, Steel or Beam Erection, Temporary and Permanent Shoring, Drilled-shaft Foundations, Bridge Deck Forming and Concrete Placement
  • Current OSHA (10 Hour) Certification
  • May include travel

    Trade Positions – Arkansas

    Phillips Hardy Inc. is seeking  seasoned professionals in the Heavy Highway industry to fulfill multiple vacancies in trade positions noted below on projects in Arkansas.  For all trade positions, the following are required:  pre-employment drug screening, OSHA 10 (which can be obtained online), valid driver’s license, and occasional weekend work.

     

    Concrete Carpenter & Finishers

    • Includes duties such as pouring, spreading, and leveling concrete, set forms, tie steel, wreck forms, and backfills.
    • Operates a screed to level freshly placed concrete according to grade and depth specification
    • Smooth concrete surface using either a hand trowel, long handled “bull float” powered float and/or riding trowel machines
    • Cut joints/grooves in concrete with edging tools to help control cracking, as well as layout and sawcut joints with an early entry saw
    • Apply hardening and sealing components to cure surfaces
    • Monitor the wind, heat and cold as it affects the curing of concrete
    • Set and place forms to proper elevations and location, prepare the base and install proper reinforcing
    • Install anchor bolts, steel plates imbeds and other fixtures into freshly poured concrete
    • Preferred requirements include:  one (1) year of concrete finishing and one (1) year of highway construction

    Heavy Equipment Operator

    • Experience operating all types of heavy equipment
    • Preferred requirements include:  one (1) year of equipment operation and one (1) year of highway construction

    Laborer

    • Responsible for cleaning and preparing construction site
    • Assists carpenters, operators, and other construction site workers
    • Preferred requirements include:  one (1) year of laborer and one (1) year of highway construction

    Carpenters

    • Perform carpentry work related to construction and maintenance as assigned under supervision of job superintendent
    • Preferred requirements include:  one (1) year of carpentry and one (1) year of highway construction
