Project Manager – Missouri

Phillips Hardy Inc. is seeking a seasoned professional in the Heavy Highway industry to fulfill the responsibilities of Project Manager at our Columbia, Missouri office.  The responsibilities of the project manager will be to oversee the work of the construction team or teams responsible for various scopes of work. The PM is responsible for ensuring conformance of the work with project plans and specifications.  The ideal candidate should be very diverse in their field experience and will have a general understanding for managing scopes of work such as: grading, drainage, utilities, concrete paving, highway and bridge construction.  Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to: oversight and management of field operations, scheduling of all site resources, work quality/quality control, subcontractor/supplier coordination, and all aspects of project site safety. 

 

Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge of the heavy highway construction industry is a must.
  • The successful candidate will show an ability to manage multiple tasks, and possess strong interpersonal/communication skills.
  • Familiarity working with City, State and Federal government agencies (Departments of Transportation and/or U.S. Army Corps of Engineers) is desirable.
  • The candidate needs to be very organized and possession of strong computer skill are a must.  Electronic document management will be an everyday responsibility.

Job Cost Engineer

Phillips Hardy is currently seeking highly motivated Job Cost Engineer. Experience with heavy civil construction (bridges, mass grading, concrete roadway, utilities, etc.) preferred.  The primary goal of this individual will be to assist the Job Cost Accountant, Project Managers and Company Management track and understand the company’s project financials, including cost, revenue, and schedule by using existing analytical tools and assisting in the development of new tools and technologies that drive company growth. The position is full-time, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, in the Columbia office.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the setup of project cost and productivity data tracking
  • Assist in updating weekly and monthly cost reports
  • Perform cost analysis on projects
  • Track cash flow of projects from billing to collection of vendor payments
  • Assist with project billings
  • Evaluate projections based on quantities claimed
  • Assist in creating Purchase Orders and Subcontracts as needed
  • Assist in creating and tracking Project Change Orders
  • Create reports in Microsoft Excel at an advanced level
  • Assist in developing analytical tools to further support the project controls team
  • Distribute project reports to Project Managers as needed
  • Run cost and productivity reports

Administrative Assistant

Phillips Hardy is seeking an Administrative Assistant. The position provides administrative and clerical support to both the estimating and project management departments.  In addition, the position includes general office support duties, company website updates, and social media management.  There is also an opportunity to cross train in either accounting or contract administration, whichever best compliments the ideal candidate’s skill level and education. General Structures Superintendent

Phillips Hardy Inc. is seeking a seasoned  professional in the heavy highway industry to perform the role of General Structures Superintendent.  The position is responsible for providing on-site coordination for all phases of construction projects, including coordinating subcontractors, material and equipment, ensuring that specifications are being strictly followed, and work is proceeding on schedule and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day to day activities and prepare daily electronic field logs.

  • Communicate and promote safe working environment and company safety standards, with strong knowledge of OSHA regulations in regards to crane and bridge construction.
  • Must be able to read plans and have a strong knowledge of various DOT specifications and standards. Superintendent will inspect work in progress to ensure quality workmanship that conforms to contract specifications and standards. Working knowledge of MoDOT Quality Management Program a plus.
  • Confers with supervisory and engineering personnel and inspectors and suppliers of tools and materials to resolve construction problems and improve construction methods.

  • Assist in the development of lift plans, form systems, support of excavations systems, demolition plans
  • Schedule subcontractors in accordance to required work schedule, pump trucks and material deliveries, Inspect and verify the receipt or shipment of materials

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ related experience with civil highway bridge construction operations required
  • Proficient with Outlook, Excel and Word is a plus.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret contract documents including drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and the project schedule
  • Strong written, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Experience with Pile Driving, Concrete Forming, Steel or Beam Erection, Temporary and Permanent Shoring, Drilled-shaft Foundations, Bridge Deck Forming and Concrete Placement

Concrete Paving Foreman – Traveling

Phillips Hardy Inc. is seeking an experienced concrete paving foreman to work on heavy highway construction projects. This position will be responsible for managing slipform and fixed form paving operations, and constructing finished pavements meeting stringent U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and state Departments of Transportation specifications. Please note, this position will be a traveling position, covering job sites across the state of Missouri.

 

Skills and Experience

    • Inspect condition of grade, forms, and steel placement for compliance with specifications prior to concrete placements.

    • Perform or assist with set up of slipform paving equipment
    • Coordinate slipform paving operations
    • Coordinate and implement fixed form paving operations
    • Monitor all placement, finishing, and curing operations for specification compliance
    • Direct and communicate with crew members and project managers to ensure high quality pavements
    • Perform and report time and cost coding for all supervised/managed employees
    • Minimum five (5) years’ experience performing job duties required of position
    • Must be self-motivated, detail oriented, and able to perform effectively in a fast paced environment
