The “Lynch Pin to the West” as it has been called, going over the Missouri River, connecting the East to the West, The Rocheport Bridge. Originally built in 1960, it carries roughly 42,000 vehicles across it daily, 12.5 million per year including 3.6 million trucks which makes it paramount in the movement of freight across Missouri and the Nation. In 2021, Governor Mike Parsons and the Missouri Department of Transportation launched the plan to replace the existing bridge, part of the Infrastructure for Rebuilding America Grant.
Phillips Hardy Inc. has the honor of being a part of the new MoDOT I-70 Rocheport Bridge construction. The first bridge will be built north of the current bridge and once complete, both bridges will have three-lanes of travel. In our role as a sub-contractor to Lunda Construction, Phillips Hardy has overseen several blasts on the eastside of bridge and north of I-70, that resulted in tens of thousands of cubic yards of rock. Subsequently, the rock was transported to the west side of the bridge to build up the infrastructure of the new roadway for the future bridge. Utilizing a Phantom 4 RTK Drone, videos and pictures were captured of this exciting process.
